Equipment Trailers for Sale

Equipment trailers are built to move heavy machinery — skid steers, mini-excavators, tractors, scissor lifts and more. With GVWRs from 7,000 to over 20,000 lb, reinforced decks, heavy-duty ramps and low deck angles, they handle the weight and ground clearance demands that lighter trailers can't.

Equipment Trailers Buying Guide

What Makes an Equipment Trailer

Equipment trailers use heavier frame steel, closer cross-member spacing, and stronger axles than utility trailers to support concentrated point loads from machinery tracks and wheels. Most are tilt or deckover designs with heavy-duty fold-down or spring-loaded ramps and a low load angle so tracked machines climb aboard without high-centering.

Matching GVWR to Your Machine

Weigh your heaviest machine plus any attachments, then add 20% for fuel, tools and future growth. Pick a trailer whose GVWR exceeds that number. A 7,000 lb GVWR deck handles a compact tractor; 14,000–17,000 lb covers most skid steers and mini-excavators; 20,000+ lb is needed for large tractors and loaded attachments.

Tilt vs. Deckover vs. Lowboy

Tilt trailers tilt the deck to ground level for a near-zero load angle — best for low-clearance machines. Deckover trailers sit above the wheels for a wider, full-width deck but a higher load angle. Lowboy equipment trailers drop the deck between the wheels for the lowest possible load height on heavy loads.

Critical Features

  • Spring-assist ramps — heavy ramps are dangerous to lift manually; assist makes them manageable.
  • Stake pockets and D-rings — for chaining down machinery at four points.
  • Sealed bearings and electric brakes on all axles — required for safe heavy hauling.
  • Adjustable coupler and jack — for uneven ground at job sites.
