Gooseneck trailers are the choice for heavy hauling — more stable than bumper pull, higher payload, and tighter turning. At Prime Trail Trailers we stock gooseneck trailers from 20 to 40 feet with tandem and triple axles, dovetail decks, and capacities from 14,000 to 30,000+ pounds for equipment, hotshot, and livestock hauling.
A gooseneck hitch sits over the rear axle of your truck, which means better weight distribution, less sway, and the ability to haul heavier loads safely. Our gooseneck trailers feature heavy-duty I-beam or tube frames, electric brakes on all axles, adjustable couplers, and dovetail decks with heavy ramps. Whether you are a hotshot hauler running freight or a farmer moving heavy equipment, a gooseneck from Prime Trail is built for the weight.

Expert guidance to help you make the right choice.
Gooseneck trailers require a gooseneck hitch ball installed in the bed of your truck, directly above the rear axle. This is the key advantage: the hitch point sits over the axle instead of hanging off the bumper, which means better weight distribution, less sway, higher payload capacity, and tighter turning (the trailer tracks inside the truck's turn radius). Most 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks can have a gooseneck hitch installed — if you do not have one, we can recommend an installer.
The GVWR and your truck's GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) are the two numbers that matter. Your loaded gooseneck trailer plus your loaded truck must not exceed the truck's GCWR. A 30-foot gooseneck deckover with a 25,000 lb GVWR is a common hotshot setup — but it requires a 1-ton truck (dually recommended) with a GCWR above 30,000 lbs. Never tow a gooseneck that exceeds your truck's ratings, even if the hitch can handle it.
For hotshot hauling, deck length and weight are strategic. A 40-foot deckover maximizes freight capacity while staying under the 26,000 lb CDL threshold (truck + trailer + cargo combined). A 30–35 foot deckover is more maneuverable and still carries most freight. Electric brakes on all axles are required, and a breakaway kit is mandatory. Look for a gooseneck with adjustable coupler height so you can match it to different trucks.
We sell gooseneck trailers built for the loads that break bumper-pull trailers. Our goosenecks use heavy I-beam frames, brakes on every axle, and ramps rated for machinery. We help you match the gooseneck's GVWR to your truck's GCWR and your heaviest load — so you tow safe and legal.
