Hotshot Trailers for Sale
Hotshot trailers are built for expedited freight hauling — typically deckover or lowboy goosenecks in the 30–40' range with 14,000–25,000 lb GVWR, set up for power-only trucking with a one-ton or dually pickup. They're the rig of choice for owner-operators moving loads that don't need a full semi.

Hotshot Trailers Buying Guide
What Is a Hotshot Trailer?
A hotshot setup pairs a heavy-duty pickup (one-ton or dually) with a gooseneck deckover or lowboy trailer to haul expedited freight — machinery, building materials, oilfield equipment, vehicles — under the weight and length limits that keep you out of a full CDL class in many cases. Trailers commonly run 30–40' long with 3 axles and 14,000–25,000+ lb GVWR.
Deckover vs. Lowboy for Hotshot
Deckover hotshots give a full-width, high deck for palletized freight and wide loads — the most common choice. Lowboy hotshots drop the deck for a lower load height and a shallower ramp angle, better for tall machinery and vehicles. Some operators run both depending on the loads they book.
Sizing for the Loads You Book
Match deck length and GVWR to your typical freight: 30' handles most machinery and pallet loads; 40' fits longer equipment and multi-vehicle loads. Triple-axle setups distribute weight for the 25,000+ lb range. Make sure your truck's GCWR (combined truck + trailer + cargo) is within rating.
Hotshot Essentials
- Electric brakes on all axles with a quality in-cab controller.
- Heavy-duty ramps and ramp storage — for loading wheeled freight at the pickup.
- Stake pockets and D-rings along the deck — for chaining down varied freight.
- Spare tire and tool storage — downtime kills expedited rates.
- DOT-compliant lighting and reflectors — for legal over-the-road operation.
